The Interserver War is the part of Celestial Destiny that changed how servers relate to each other. Before it, your world was the whole game. Now four worlds compete over one objective, and your server's standing is public.

Here is the format, stripped of the announcement language.

The setup

ParticipantsFour worlds, fighting over the Dark Stronghold
How you scoreWar missions, monster kills, player kills
Where the score goesInto your server's total, tracked on cross-server rankings
Who can joinAny character on a participating world. Clans organise, but the points are personal and server-wide

Two things follow from that table. First, individual players matter more than they do in a castle siege, because every kill in the zone adds to a server total. Second, a quiet server is now a disadvantage you can see on a leaderboard, not a vague feeling.

What actually happens in the zone

The war is not one permanent battlefield. It runs in windows. During a window you go in, complete missions, kill what is in front of you and bank points. Between windows you farm, craft and argue in clan chat about who was not there.

If you have played a faction war in another MMO, the loop will feel familiar. What is different is the reward structure: the interesting drops concentrate in war content, which is why the zone fills up in the first weeks after an update and thins out later.

Why a solo player should care

You do not need a clan to contribute, and you do not need to win to get value. Three things are worth your time even without a group.

  • Missions. They are the cheapest points per minute and they do not require coordination.
  • Presence. Server totals move on volume. A world that shows up in every window beats a world with ten strong players who log in once.
  • Timing. The first thirty minutes of a window are crowded. The last thirty are where small groups clean up uncontested objectives.

How to bank points without wasting an evening

Points are banked as you earn them, so a short session is not wasted. That changes the optimal strategy: three 30-minute windows beat one 90-minute session, because the last half hour of any window is when the zone empties out.

Pick missions that overlap with what you are already doing. If a mission asks for kills in a zone you farm anyway, it is free. If it asks you to cross the map for a delivery, it costs more time than the points are worth unless your clan is stacking that objective deliberately.

Where clans get it wrong

Two mistakes show up in every war season.

The first is treating it as a gear competition. It is a scheduling competition. A clan that fields twenty people at a dead hour beats a clan that fields five at peak.

The second is ignoring the missions because "real" points come from kills. Missions are predictable, and predictable beats heroic when the score is settled by a few percent.

What it means for your world choice

If you are picking a world right now, this system adds a factor that did not exist in 2025: the population of your server now has a visible effect on your rewards. A low-population PvE world is calmer to farm on and weaker in cross-server content. That trade-off is real, and it is the one thing the server comparison cannot decide for you.

FAQ

Is the Interserver War permanent?

It arrived with Celestial Destiny and runs in recurring windows. Whether it survives the next patch unchanged is an open question, so check the notes after 21 October.

Do I need to be max level?

You need to survive in a contested zone, which in practice means endgame gear. Lower-level characters contribute through missions if they can reach them, but the kills section is not for a fresh 85.

Can I lose progress by dying in the war?

Normal death penalties apply. You do not lose war points already banked, which is why short runs are safer than heroic ones.

Does my clan get the rewards or do I?

Both scales exist. Mission and kill rewards are personal. Server standing affects the wider reward pool, which is why the leaderboard matters even to players who never join a clan.
