Battle with Kain is one of the two clan dungeons that came with Celestial Destiny. It is the easier of the pair to enter and the harder one to finish on the first evening, which makes it the better place to start.
The basics
| Entry | Detail |
|---|---|
| Level | 85 and above |
| Group | Clan channel |
| Boss | Kain van Holter, the Dark Sovereign |
| Retry | A failed attempt can be run again |
| Lifetime | Temporary content from the Celestial Destiny season |
The retry rule is the most useful line on that table. It tells you what kind of fight this is. A one-shot gear check does not let you try again. A learning fight does.
Why the retry matters more than the loot table
Groups that go in during the first two weeks wipe, adjust and clear. Groups that wait until a video solves the fight arrive when nobody needs them and the drop pool has already been farmed by the people who did the work.
There is a second effect. The players who learn the fight early become the ones clans ask to lead it later. If you want a fixed raid slot in your clan, this dungeon is the cheapest way to earn one.
How to prepare
- Read the boss name. Kain van Holter is the Dark Sovereign, and the dungeon sits inside the Celestial Destiny story. Expect a fight built around sustained damage rather than a single burn phase, and plan cooldowns accordingly.
- Bring your own sustain. Clan channel content rarely has enough healing for people who stand in everything. Potions and a defensive set are not optional at 85.
- Fix the roster before the run. Two tanks and four damage dealers with no support is a common composition mistake in Essence clan content, because everyone assumes somebody else brought a support class.
- Agree on one caller. The fights that fail are usually the ones with three people giving instructions.
The first-run roster
At level 85 the margin is thin, so the composition matters more than the gear score. A workable first group looks like two characters who can hold a boss, two who do steady damage, one support and one flexible slot. The flexible slot is for whoever in your clan actually reads mechanics.
Do not fill the last slot with a second support on the theory that healing fixes mistakes. It does not fix positioning, and it does not fix a rotation that stops when the boss moves.
Rewards
The two Celestial Destiny clan dungeons share a reward pool that includes gear, Frintese's Necklace, coupons for summoning rare dolls and consumables. Exact rates are not published in a way worth quoting, and drop tables are the first thing a patch changes.
Treat the necklace and the doll coupons as the reason to run it, and gear as the reason to keep running it.
How long this content lasts
Battle with Kain and Pagan Temple were introduced as temporary season content. Temporary in Essence usually means until the next major rotation, and the next patch is dated 21 October 2026. If you still have cooldowns, spend them before that date. The October 21 patch page tracks what changes.
FAQ
Can I enter solo?
No. Entry is through the clan channel, so you need a clan group even if the group is small.
What happens if we fail?
You can attempt it again. That is the design difference between this dungeon and a one-attempt raid.
Is level 85 enough?
85 is the entry requirement, not a comfort level. A group of fresh 85s will clear it slower than a group of 90s, and the difference shows up in the last phase.
Does it drop anything for a support class?
The reward pool is shared rather than class-locked, which is why supports keep showing up after their gear is done.
